The banana tree is such an awesome tree. Not only can we use the entire tree, the health benefits of doing so is just amazing.
In this post we’ll be cooking and eating the flower.
Cooking as such doesn’t take time. It’s the cleaning the poo/flower that takes time.
totally worth it.

Now off we go to the recipe.
Vazhai poo/ banana flower 1
Onion – 1 finely chopped
Dried red chilly 3
Tumeric powder a pinch
Jeera/ Cumin seeds 2 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Urad dal 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Oil 1 TBsp
Salt to taste
Clean the vazhai poo carefully. Chop them and soak in water. There are umpteen tutorials to guide you online. Check them out. My favorite was this.
Gather all the ingredients.
Heat oil in wok.
Splutter the mustard seeds, jeera , Urad dal. let the dal turn brown.
Add dried red chilly and Curry leaves.
Throw in the onions. Salute till they turn brown.
Add tumeric powder, salt.
To this add the chopped vazhai poo/ banana flower. Add v little water.
Cover the wok with lid.
Cook till Vazhai poo is soft and done.
